Originally from Mumbai, Alisha-Shine Cheyaden has been studying computers since the fifth grade.
Being a tech grad with a master’s degree in information technology and analytics, Cheyaden never imagined working for an insurance company. But when looking for her first full-time job, she was impressed by the learning opportunities Chubb offers — such as the Technology Associate Program (TAP) — and was attracted by the fact that we are “the world’s largest publicly traded property and casualty insurance company and a global company with operations in 54 countries!”
Chubb created TAP to ensure the company has a strong team to manage future technology projects. With TAP, early-in-career IT employees are immersed in a two-year development program comprising educational opportunities, lectures, networking, and social events. As Nicole Braun, Program Manager for TAP, observed, “The goal of TAP is to provide Chubb with an in-house technology talent pipeline while offering our associates the ability to grow as technologists and professionals and to grow as future leaders of a world-class insurance organization.”
Within five months of joining Chubb, Cheyaden moved onto an international team, a transition that presented opportunities to work on projects with colleagues in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. For Cheyaden, the experience reinforced that a successful career in insurtech means knowing the core business as well as the fundamentals of technology and staying abreast of new technologies.
